Built, Burned Out, Began Again

Fifteen years in: from freelance to full agency. A journey through heartbreak, breakthroughs, and building something meaningful.

It started in 2010.

I was in Nashville, burned out on music and looking for stability.
A bass player I used to gig with offered me a temp web role at his day job — they just needed some extra hands.
Two months turned into two years.

When Jen and I moved to Fort Worth, I leaned fully into freelance web development.
From small independent businesses to Fortune 500 companies.
Dozens of projects and a few agency collaborations.

Six years of hands-on learning — design, development, and doing what it took to make things work.

In 2016, Jen Malloy and I co-founded Craft & Communicate.
The first two years were filled with quiet perseverance through a personal tragedy that changed everything.

In 2019, a major senior living operator took a chance on us.
We scaled 5x overnight — and then kept going.
From 2019 to 2023, we doubled and tripled in size.

But somewhere along the way, growth evolved.

The last two years?

We’ve focused on depth, not volume
refining process, strengthening outcomes, and leading with intention.

Through it all, Jen and I have shared:

Never certain what tomorrow would bring — but always committed to showing up.

This chapter, this business, this partnership —
It’s been one of the most meaningful journeys of my life.
