In the space between silence and sound, Counterparts finds its voice. This is improvised music that doesn't announce itself—it unfolds, breath by breath, between players who've learned that the most interesting conversations happen when no one knows where they're going.
Born from late nights at Entropy Gallery and the high desert air of New Mexico, Counterparts is an exploration in real-time composition. Piano and drums in dialogue, searching for that moment when structure dissolves and something unexpected emerges.
No setlists. No safety nets. Just two musicians creating sonic landscapes that exist only in the present tense, then disappear into memory.
The Approach
Listen first, play second.
The silence between notes carries as much weight as the notes themselves.
Embrace the unexpected.
The wrong note in the right moment becomes the right note.
Trust the process.
Structure emerges organically when musicians listen deeply to each other.
