I have been recording from my home studio for the past 14 years. Thankfully things are easier now than when I started and the ability to collaborate is at an all time high. My goal isn’t to just offer great sounding drum and percussion tracks but to give the client a performance that takes their song to the place in which they envisioned.
What Do I Use to Play Music?
Drums
My main recording drum kits are Gretsch USA Customs & Yamaha Maple Customs. I have a shell bank in each and can offer most any size. I usually use a pair of Neumann KM 184’s, RE20, 421’s, SM57 & a SM7 going through 12 channels of Neve, API & Manely Preamps.
Marimba
Marimba tracks are recording using a 5 octave Yamaha marimba going through a pair of Neumann U87’s and Millenia pre-amps for maximum clarity and depth.
Vibes
Gold Yamaha 3 octave Vibraphane with motor captured by a pair of AKG 414’s and another set of Millenia pre-amps
Percussion
Shakers, Tamborines, Cowbells, and more headed through the U87’s & their Millenia Pre’s.
